Plaster Face
Plaster face
Painted to Perfection
to blot the blemishes
That are obvious
Beneath the surface.
Despair
Sadness
Hidden behind
Twinkling eyes
That gleam with
False happiness.
The mascara keeps
the tears in
For fear it will run.
Lips glued together
Afraid to speak
What’s bubbling inside.
If only we
Didn’t need to
Mask our troubles
With fake smiles
to be Accepted
By Ourselves.
